abstract Derivatives of 3,3а, 4,5-tetrahydro-1H-oxazolo [3,4-a] quinolin-1-one of general formula (I), in which n is 0 or 1; R1 is a hydrogen atom or ethenyl, methyl, ethyl, phenyl, hydroxymethyl or methoxymethyl; and also either R2 is methyl, trifluoromethyl or cyano group, R3 is a hydrogen atom, hydroxyl or benzyloxy group, and R4 and R5 are hydrogen atoms; or R2 and R4 together form a group - (CH2) 4-, R3 is hydroxyl, and R5 is a hydrogen atom; or R2 and R5 together form a group -O- (CH2) 3-, and R3 and R4 are hydrogen atoms; or R2 and R5 together form a group - (CH2) 4-, R3 is hydroxyl, and R4 is a hydrogen atom, in the form of isomers, including enantiomers and diastereoisomers, and mixtures of these various forms, including racemic mixtures, exhibiting selective inhibitory activity towards MAO-A, or a mixed inhibitory ability against MAO-A and MAO-B.
