titleOfInvention METHOD OF SURFACE TREATMENT OF INORGANIC PIGMENT PARTICLES
abstract The invention relates to a method for surface treatment of inorganic pigment particles with agglomerates of small primary particles or single crystals of inorganic compounds, in particular oxides or sulfates. The method includes the fact that inorganic compounds are first precipitated from an aqueous solution under appropriate pH conditions in a separate tank in the form of loose structure agglomerates and / or single crystals. The precipitation product is then added to an aqueous suspension of inorganic pigment particles. The method is particularly suitable for the surface treatment of titanium dioxide particles in order to achieve a high coverage or high opacity when used in emulsion paints or laminates.
