titleOfInvention | Pfc controller with multi-function node, related pfc circuit and control method |
abstract | Disclosed is a PFC circuit with an inductor, a power transistor, a current-sense nresister, a PFC controller and a signal-integration circuit. The power transistor has a drain, a source and a gate, where the drain is coupled to the inductor, and the source to the current-sense resistor. The PFC controller provides a drive node coupled to the gate and a multiple-function node coupled to both the drain and the source through the signal-integration circuit, which generates a multiple-function signal at the multiple-function node. When the power transistor is turned ON to perform a short circuit, the power controller compares the multiple-function signal with a predetermined reference signal to accordingly provide an over-current protection signal, which is capable of constantly turning OFF the power transistor. When the power transistor is turned OFF to perform an open circuit, the power controller determines, based on the multiple-function signal, a zero-current moment when an inductor current of the inductor drops to zero. |
