titleOfInvention | Sample extraction and preparation device |
abstract | A fluid specimen extraction device is disclosed, which includes a housing that defines an internal fluid channel with a distal open end portion and a proximal open end portion; and a porous medium in the fluid channel at the distal open end portion and Between the proximal open ends. A porous medium that can be glass is constructed: when fluid is withdrawn from the distal open end toward the proximal open end, the fluid in the fluid channel is allowed to flow around the porous medium and toward the shell. Proximal open end; when the fluid is forced towards the distal open end, fluid in the fluid channel is allowed to flow towards the distal open end of the housing through the porous medium. The porous medium is also constructed to capture nucleic acids from the fluid in the porous medium when the fluid is forced to pass through the porous medium. Devices and kits were also revealed. |
