A device that can be implemented on a single packaged integrated circuit or multiple chips includes multiple non-volatile memory cells, and is used to use a physical non-reproducible function to generate an initial key and store the initial key in multiple Logic in a group of non-volatile memory cells. The device may include logic for generating a random number using a random number generator, and logic for combining an initial key with a random number to generate an enhanced key. The physical non-replication function can use the entropy derived from non-volatile memory cells in multiple non-volatile memory cells to generate an initial key. Describes the logic used to prohibit changes to data in a group of non-volatile memory cells and thereby freeze the key after it has been stored in the group. |
