abstract The invention provides a device and method for substrate processing, the device comprising: (a) a containment means having: (i) a first upper chamber having a rotatably mounted cylindrical cage mounted therein, and ( ii) a second lower chamber below the cylindrical cage; (b) at least one recirculation means; (c) access means; (d) pump means; and (e) plural conveyance means, wherein the The rotatingly mounted cylindrical cage further includes a collection and transfer means adapted to facilitate the collection of the solid particulate material and the transfer of the material to the at least one recycling means. The invention also provides a method for treating a substrate, the method comprising treating the substrate with a formulation comprising a solid particle cleaning material and washing water, and performing the method using the apparatus of the invention. The device and method are particularly suitable for cleaning dirty textiles.
