abstract The present invention provides systems and methods for suturing tissue. An extended deployment shaft carries a needle group transfer assembly with a suture needle. A needle catcher is disposed on the shaft and is configured to engage and retain at least a portion of each of the needles as the needles carrying the suture pass through the tissue to be sutured to a proximal position.
