| abstract | The invention provides a smoking article comprising an aerosol-forming substrate, a cigarette holder axially aligned with the aerosol-forming substrate, a liquid transfer member, and a covering material surrounding at least a portion of the smoking article. The liquid transfer member is a structural material disposed in the aerosol-forming substrate or the cigarette holder, and includes a releasable packaging liquid. The covering material includes at least one liquid-permeable region and at least one liquid-impermeable region. At least a portion of the at least one permeable region is aligned with or downstream of the liquid transport member. When the liquid is released from the liquid transfer member, the liquid can move to the outer surface of the smoking article through the permeable area of the covering material. |
