titleOfInvention Drug delivery device with pneumatic power unit
abstract Drug delivery devices are disclosed that are constructed to provide a dose of a drug. The drug delivery device includes a primary housing, a syringe disposed in the primary housing, and a pneumatic power unit disposed in the primary housing. The pneumatic power unit includes a pressurized gas source for storing pressurized gas, a valve for the pressurized gas source, a sleeve having an inner wall surface, and a plunger. The sleeve is configured to receive pressurized gas released by the pressurized source of gas. The plunger is in sliding airtight engagement with the inner wall surface of the sleeve. Upon activation of the valve, the valve releases the pressurized gas and the released pressurized gas flows into the sleeve and advances the plunger relative to the sleeve and the barrel in a distal direction In order to eject the drug from the syringe.
