The present invention provides a method for reducing a metal of a sugar alcohol compound, which is used to obtain a sugar alcohol compound of a quality that can be ideally used in a semiconductor device manufacturing step.nn n n A method for reducing a metal of a sugar alcohol compound, comprising the following steps: (A) a protection step, in which a hydroxyl group of a sugar alcohol compound containing a metal as an impurity is protected by a protecting group; (B) a metal removal step, from which the hydroxyl group is protected The sugar alcohol compound to be protected is removed as an impurity metal; and (C) a deprotection step for deprotecting the protective group of the sugar alcohol compound from which the metal has been removed. |
