abstract |
A pro-apoptotic solid dispersant comprises a Bcl-2 family protein inhibitor compound of formula I as defined herein in a substantially non-crystalline form dispersed in a carrier comprising (a) a pharmaceutically acceptable water soluble polymer and b) In a solid matrix of a pharmaceutically acceptable surfactant. A method for preparing the solid dispersant comprises subjecting the compound of formula I, water-soluble polymer carrier and surfactant to high temperature to obtain an extrudable semi-solid mixture; extruding the semi-solid mixture; and cooling the resulting extrudate A solid matrix containing a polymer carrier and a surfactant and having the compound dispersed therein in a substantially non-crystalline form is obtained. The solid dispersant is suitable for oral administration to individuals in need to treat diseases characterized by one or more anti-apoptotic Bcl-2 family protein overexpression, such as cancer or immune or autoimmune diseases. |
