The present invention relates to a method of forming a layer of an electronic device, such as an organic light-emitting device, comprising depositing a precursor layer comprising a compound of formula (I) and reacting the compound of formula (I) in a ring-opening addition reaction Step: Core - (Reactive Group) n (I)n n n Wherein the core is a non-polymeric core group; and each reactive group (which may be the same or different at each occurrence) is a group of formula (II): n n n Wherein Sp 1 independently represents a spacer group at each occurrence; w is independently 0 or 1 at each occurrence; Ar independently represents an aryl or heteroaryl group at each occurrence; R 1 is present at each occurrence H represents independently H or a substituent, the constraint being at least one R 1 substituent; n is at least 1; and * is the point at which the group of formula (II) is attached to the core; and wherein the formula (I) The compound will react with itself or with a non-polymeric co-reactant. |
