abstract The invention relates to a wire, comprising a wire core having a surface, the wire core having a coating layer superimposed on its surface, wherein the wire core itself is composed of the following components: (a) by (a1) Silver with a content in the range of 99.99 to 100% by weight and (a2) pure silver composed of other components in a total amount of 0 to 100% by weight ppm or (b) silver with a content of (b1) in the range of 99.69 to 99.987% by weight; ( b2) at least one dopant element selected from the group consisting of calcium, nickel, platinum, copper, rhodium and ruthenium in a total amount of 30 to 3000 ppm by weight and (b3) a dopant composed of other components in a total amount of 0 to 100 ppm by weight Miscellaneous silver or (c) silver from (c1) in the range of 95.99 to 99.49% by weight; (c2) palladium in the range of 0.5 to 4% by weight and (c3) other groups of 0 to 100% by weight in total Composition of silver alloy or (d) silver with (d1) content ranging from 93.99 to 99.39% by weight; (d2) palladium content ranging from 0.5 to 4% by weight; (d3) content ranging from 0.1 to 2% by weight Gold in the range; and (d4) a silver alloy composed of other components in a total amount of 0 to 100 weight ppm or (e) silver having a content of (e1) in the range of 93.69 to 99.387% by weight; (e2) a content of 0.5 Up to 4% by weight Palladium within the range; (e3) gold in the range of 0.1 to 2% by weight; (e4) at least one selected from the group consisting of calcium, nickel, platinum, copper, rhodium and ruthenium in a total amount of 30 to 3000 weight ppm Doping element; and (e5) a doped silver alloy composed of other components in a total amount of 0 to 100 weight ppm, wherein the individual amount of any other component is less than 30 weight ppm, wherein the individual amount of any doping element is at least 30 weight ppm, where all amounts in weight percent and weight ppm are based on the total weight of the core, and where the coating layer is a single layer of gold or palladium with a thickness of 1 to 1000 nm or 1 A double layer with an inner layer up to 100 nm thick and an outer layer with a thickness of 1 to 200 nm adjacent to gold.
