abstract | The present invention relates to an additive for a polyoxygen encapsulant having the following structure: n n n Wherein R 1 and R 2 are each -O-Si(R 4 )(R 5 )(R 6 ) and each of R 4 , R 5 and R 6 is independently selected from C 1 -C 10 hydrocarbyl, C 1 -C 10 alkyl, C 2 -C 10 alkenyl and C 6 -C 10 aryl, and wherein R 3 is independently selected from C 1 -C 10 hydrocarbyl, C 1 -C 10 alkyl, C 2 -C 10 olefin And C 6 -C 10 aryl. The additive is formed using a method comprising the step of reacting an iron metal or an iron (III) compound with a hydroxy functional organosiloxane. The sealant includes the additive and polyorganosiloxane. The encapsulant can be used to form a device that includes an electronic component and the encapsulant disposed on the electronic component. The apparatus is formed using a method including the step of arranging the sealant on the electronic device. |
