abstract The present invention discloses an isolated antibody or antigen-binding fragment thereof which specifically binds to an epitope located in domain 1 or domain 3 of human vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 (VEGFR2; SEQ ID NO: 74) Affinity. The epitope within the domain 3 of VEGFR2 is located between the 250th amino acid residue and the 270th amino acid residue of SEQ ID NO:74. The invention also discloses the use of such antibodies or antigen-binding fragments thereof for the manufacture of a medicament for inhibiting tumor growth, tumor angiogenesis and/or inducing cytotoxicity of cancer cells in an individual in need thereof. In addition, the present invention also discloses a method for detecting the presence of VEGFR2 in tumor vascular endothelial cells or cancer cells in a biological sample.
