The present invention relates to a PSA liquid crystal display device in which a polymerizable compound is polymerized by irradiating an energy ray while sandwiching a mixture of a polymerizable compound and a liquid crystal composition between the first substrate and the second substrate. Further, the polymer having a number average molecular weight of 50,000 or more in terms of polystyrene. The present invention provides a PSA type display element and a method of fabricating the same, wherein the PSA type display element aligns liquid crystal molecules substantially vertically between substrates and performs directional control of liquid crystal molecules by applying a voltage, which does not hinder liquid crystal molecules from generating a pretilt angle. Appropriately imparting a pretilt angle, the orientation stability obtained thereby is good, and the orientation in the substrate is uniform, and there is no display failure or display failure. The PSA type display device of the present invention is useful for a VA mode or a PSVA mode liquid crystal display device for active matrix driving, and can be applied to liquid crystal display devices such as liquid crystal TVs, monitors, mobile phones, and smart phones. |
