titleOfInvention Use of 5-methoxytryptamine as a diagnostic reagent for inflammatory diseases
abstract The present invention relates to a method for diagnosing an inflammatory disease and a diagnostic kit for the method. The diagnostic method of the present invention includes using a novel tryptophan metabolite, 5-methoxytryptophan (5-MTP) as a diagnostic marker for inflammatory reactions. The present invention particularly provides a highly specific competitive immunoenzyme method for measuring the occurrence and severity of inflammatory diseases including septicemia and systemic lupus erythematosus by measuring the 5-MTP concentration in human serum.
