abstract | This invention provides a method for manufacturing alkylsulfonate modified polyvinyl alcohol, which comprises the steps of: forming alkylsulfonate modified polyvinyl acetate by copolymerization of vinyl acetate and a monomer containing alkylsulfonate under existence of a free radical initiator, wherein the reaction condition is pH 3-9; optionally removing nonreacted vinyl acetate; and adding a basification catalyst to the alkylsulfonate modified polyvinyl acetate to produce the alkylsulfonate modified polyvinyl alcohol. The method of this invention can reduce use amount of the basification catalyst, reduce the reaction time, enhance alkylsulfonate modification degree of product, and be suitable for producing products with variable viscosity. |
