titleOfInvention Butene liquid crystal compounds
abstract This invention involves a liquid crystal compound that can be used as liquid crystal display material and has negative dielectric constants and a mixed liquid crystal material using this type of compound. The dielectric constant of the novel nematic phase crystal compound is negative, and the structure is represented by the following general formula (1); in the formula (1), R1 represents hydrogen atoms or a linear alkyl group of 1 to 8 carbon atoms or a linear alkenyl group of 2 to 8 carbon atoms. Alternatively, R1 represents an alkoxy group or an alkenoxy group formed by replacing one or two CH2 that are not adjoined to each other in the linear alkyl group or the linear alkenyl group with the oxygen atom, in which the group has 0 to 4 hydrogen atoms that can be replaced by fluorine atoms. R2 represents a hydrogen atom or a linear alkyl group of 1 to 8 carbon atoms, in which the group has 0 to 4 hydrogen atoms that can be replaced by fluorine atoms. A represents a benzene ring or 1,4 cyclohexane ring, wherein when A is a benzene ring, the benzene ring has 0 to 4 hydrogen atoms that can be replaced by fluorine atoms; n=1 to 2, m=0 to 2.
