abstract To provide a reproduction apparatus capable of shortening a time from the reception of a command for changing a reproduction rate to the acquisition of a reproduction output after the rate is changed. Decoders 34-1, 34-2 and 34-3 execute decoding schedules using a GOP as a unit, and decide whether or not to reproduce and output the decode-scheduled picture data on the basis of the result of the decoding schedule and a reproduction rate at timing when picture data forming the GOP are actually decoded, reproduced and outputted.
