abstract Disclosed is a method for forming nano-grade particles on metal substrates, by applying a thin film over a reactive surface of a metal substrate, the thin film having nano-grade openings thereon; subjecting the reactive surface of the metal substrate to contact a reactive liquid so as to form nano-grade particles in the openings by means of the interaction of the metal substrate and the reactive liquid within the nano-grade opening; finally removing the thin film leaving the nano-grade particles on the metal substrate.
