With respect to conventional light emitting diode designs combined with a blue light emitting diode, there is concern that the adornment and warmness are lacking. It is intended to provide a white light emitting diode capable of throwing off warm white light of high luminance and to provide a neutral-color light emitting diode that can cope with emission of high-luminance light of diversified tone. There is provided a white light emitting diode capable of highly efficient emission of warm while light, comprised of a semiconductor light emitting diode capable of blue-purple or blue light emission combined with a mixed phosphor, the mixed phosphor composed of a fluorescent substance capable of emission of light of any of green, yellowish green and yellow mixed with a fluorescent substance capable of emission of light of any of yellowish red and red, the latter fluorescent substance comprising a crystal phase of CaAlSiN3 wherein at least one element selected from among Mn, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb and Lu is contained in the form of a solid solution. |
