titleOfInvention | Latex-encapsulated particulates for ink-jet applications |
abstract | The present invention is drawn to a latex-encapsulated particulate, comprising a particulate from 30 nm to 150 nm in size, and a latex at least partially encapsulating the particulate. The latex can have a surface dielectric constant from 2.0 to 3.0 at room temperature, and the latex-encapsulated particulate can have a bulk density from 0.90 g/cm<3> to 2.0 g/cm<3>, or alternatively from 0.90 g/cm<3> to 1.10 g/cm<3>. The surface of the latex can be modified by non-reactive surfactants and reactive surfactants. If a reactive surfactant is used, a broader range of latex particulates can be used. These latex-encapsulated particulates can be latex-encapsulated pigments for used in ink-jet ink formulations. |
