abstract An object having hardcoat excellent in antifouling and lubricating properties as well as scratch resistance and abrasion resistance is cheaply provided, and a method of forming the hardcoat is provided. On the surface of an object 1 in need of hardcoating treatment, a hardcoating agent composition containing a cationic polymerization curable compound is coated to form a hardcoating agent composition layer; on the surface of the hardcoating agent composition layer, a surface material layer is formed by film-forming a material for surface layer comprising an cationic polymerization curable compound which has antifouling and/or lubricating functions, so that a surface material layer is formed; and the resulting hardcoating agent composition layer and the surface material layer are irradiated by an active energy ray or the aforementioned two layers are heated to cure the aforementioned two layers simultaneously, so that a hardcoat layer 2 is disposed in contact with the surface of the object 1 and an antifouling surface layer 3 is disposed in contact with the hardcoat layer 2.
