titleOfInvention Rewritable optical recording medium and optical recording method
abstract The purpose of the present invention is to provide a CD-RW capable of high-speed recording of 24-time speed or higher, and a rewritable DVD capable of high-speed recording of 6-time speed or higher, while maintaining compatibility with the CD-RW standard and the rewritable DVD standard, and their recording method. The rewritable optical recording medium of the present invention has a substrate with grooves formed and a phase change recording layer. The crystal portion is in a non-recorded state/erase state, and the amorphous portion is in a recorded state. Information subjected to EFM modulation is recorded by applying a recording light to form an amorphous mark in a groove. The rewritable optical recording medium is characterized in that a linear velocity of 1.2 m/s to 1.4 m/s is made a reference speed (1-time speed) and at 24-time speed or at 32-time speed, when the recording light of wavelength of about 780 nm is applied via an optical system of NA=0.5 or NA=0.55 for recording, the modulation degree m11 of the recording signal is 60% to 80%, the upper end value Rtop of the reflectance in the eye pattern is 15 to 25%, and the jitter is 35 nsec or below.
