A liquid crystal orientating agent excellent in liquid crystal orientating feature, orientation control and rubbing resistance, high in voltage holding feature, and used to obtain a liquid crystal orientation film reduced in charge accumulation, and a liquid crystal display element hard to cause a defective display, a lowered contrast and a display image persistence. The liquid crystal orientating agent is characterized by including a low-resistance polyimide precursor having a volume resistivity in a film form of 1x10<10> to 1x10<14> ohmcm, and a highly-oriented polyimide precursor or polyimide having a specific structure; and the liquid crystal display element uses this liquid crystal orientating agent. |
