abstract | A surface light source device has light control members 5-8 accommodated in a frame in which components constituting the surface light source device are fixedly contained. Each of light control members 5-8 has a pair of edges 34, 35 extending in the direction perpendicular to a fluorescent lamp 11. First and second tongs 20, 21 are formed on a lamp 11 side portion of edge 34 and the opposite side, and respective first hole (reference hole) 24, and second hole (along edge 34) 26) are provided. The hole 24, 26 are adapted to engage with respective engaging studs (first and second positioning means) of each frame. The width wise dimension of hole 26 is so selected to allow the hole 26 to engage with the second positioning means with a small clearance, while its lengthwise dimension is designed to absorb thermal expansion of the light control member in Y-axis direction, A third tong 28 is formed at the lamp 11 side portion of edge 35, where a third hole (an elongated hole in X-axis direction) is provided. The widthwise dimension of the third hole 31 is designed to allow the third hole 31 to engage with an engaging stud (a third positioning means) of the frame with a small clearance, and its lengthwise dimension is so selected to absorb the thermal expansion of the light control members 5-8 in Y-axis direction. |
