Mutant animals |
abstract |
The present invention is related to a mutant animal, for example a mouse having a mutant presenilin-1 gene comprising the DNA encoding a mutant presenilin-1 wherein an amino acid of the amino acid sequence of presenilin-1 is replaced by other amino acid(s) (for example a mutant presenilin-1 wherein No 213 amino acid, namely isoleucine, of presenilin-1 from mouse is replaced by the amino acid(s) other than isoleucine, such as threonine). Said mutant animal shows symptoms more proximate to human Azheimer's disease and hence is a useful model animal for studying said disease. |
