To provide barium titanate excellent in its electric properties and having a fine particle size and a less amount of impurities, which allows to produce a ceramic dielectric thin film required for a small capacitor enabling miniaturization of electronic equipments and parts, and its production method, a titanium oxide sol and a barium compound are reacted in an alkaline solution containing a basic compound, followed by removing the basic compound as a gas and then being fired to obtain barium titanate with a high BET specific surface area and a high orthogonal crystal content. |
