When a buffer underrun occurs, the width of an EXTENDED SYNC signal indicating the time interval between an absolute time in pre-groove synchronization (ATIP SYNC) signal and a SUBCODE SYNC signal is stored in a predetermined place, and is then used for accurate data recording continuity when data recording restarts after the buffer underrun is corrected.
