abstract | The present invention provides a pharmaceutical composition, SO101C, for preventing and treating bone fracture and osteoporosis. One aspect of the pharmaceutical composition is to provide for a formulation prepared ratably from a group of Chinese herbal plants consisting essentially of Lactuca sativa L., Lignum Aquilariae Resinatum, Oryza sativa L., Boswellia carterii Birdw, Rhizoma atractylodis macrocephalae and Semen cuscutae at the ratio of 0.1-1:2-20:1-5:0.1-1:0.1-1:0.1-1, preferably at the ratio of 0.5:5:2:0.5:0.25:0.5 in the range of 3 to 12 grams. A whole plant or a certain part of the herbal plants may be used for the preparation of the pharmaceutical composition. Preferably, resin-containing trunks of the Lignum Aquilariae Resinatum, and resins of the Boswellia carterii Birdw are used according to the invention. The pharmaceutical composition may be prepared in a form of a tablet, soft gel, granule, powder, liquid or capsule. |
