abstract The present invention discloses a method for the production of sodium 3,5-bis(hydroxypropyl)-carboxyl-benzenesulfonate. This process involves the use of titanium analogue catalyst in combination with other alkaline salts at a reaction temperature ranging from 140 DEG C to 220 DEG C in a well stirred mixture of (A) sodium 3,5-bis(alkyl)-carboxyl-benzenesulfonate components, (B) 1,3-propanediol, (C) Ti(OR)4, and (D) alkaline salts. This catalyst is favored to be better when compared with the catalyst used in the existing techniques. This process highlights the advantages: shorter times, lower reaction temperature, significant reduction of the DPG content that affect the fiber quality.
