abstract | The present invention is to provide a catalyst for the polymerization of polyester, which takes a compound containing components other than Ge and Sb as the main component of the catalyst, a polyester produced by using the catalyst, and a process for producing the polyester. A catalyst for the polymerization of polyester employing aluminum as the primary metal component has excellent catalytic activity and the catalyst is not deactivated or removed, therefore heat deterioration during melt moulding can be inhibited and it may render the polyester excellent in thermal stability, heat oxidation stability and hydrolytic resistance. The catalyst for the polymerization of polyester comprises at least one member selected from aluminum and its compounds as the first metal-containing component in coexistence with, for example, a phosphorus compound represented by the following chemical formula. A polyester produced by using the catalyst may be used in a variety of moulded articles such as fiber, film, sheet, hollow moulded article. |
