abstract Each of a plurality of unit cells for multi-pole filter press type electrolytic tank aligned linearly between the anode ionic exchange membranes, including an anode-side pan-like frame having an anode room and an anode-side gas/liquid separation room extending along the entire length of the upper side thereof; and a cathode-side pan-like frame similarly having a cathode room and a cathode-side gas/liquid separation room, characterized in that: a porous segment of foam removing partition wall extending from the holed bottom wall upward and along the entire length of the anode-side gas/liquid separation room is provided in the gas/liquid separation room; holes in the porous segment are provided so as to be positioned at least 10 mm above the inner surface of the holed bottom wall of the separation room, and the separation room is partitioned by the foam removing partition wall into a first passage A at the holed region of the holed bottom wall and a second passage B at the non-holed region of the holed bottom wall and communicating with gas and liquid discharge nozzles.
