titleOfInvention | Method of producing polarizing plate, and liquid crystal display |
abstract | A method of producing a polarizing plate having both a high light transmittance and a high polarization rate, and a liquid crystal display, are provided. A method of producing a polarizing plate includes a step of dyeing a polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) film with iodine or a dyestuff having dichroism and a step of crosslinking the film by using a crosslinking agent, and the film is stretched with a roller during any of these steps. In crosslinking the film in a bath containing the crosslinking agent after dyeing the film in a dyeing bath containing at least 0,02 wt% of iodine or a dyestuff having dichroism, a stretch rate of the film not being subjected to the crosslinking bath is in a range of 1 to 5 when compared to an original PVA film, while a stretch rate during/after the crosslinking step including the crosslinking bath treatment is in a range of 1.01 to 4, and the total stretch rate is at most 8 in a comparison between the original PVA film and a final product. |
