abstract |
The present invention provides a high pressure discharge lamp 100 comprising: a luminous tube 10 filled with at least a rare gas and halogen and formed substantially of a silica glass; and an electrode 12 arranged in the luminous tube 10 and formed substantially of tungsten, which is characterized in that: the number of moles of the halogen is more than the sum of the number of total moles of metal elements (excluding tungsten and mercury) having property of bonding with the halogen and existing in the luminous tube 10 and the number of moles of tungsten existing in the luminous tube after evaporating from the electrode 12 during the operation of the lamp. |
