titleOfInvention Time division multiplex data transmission method and structure with single bus compatible to ATA bus protocol
abstract The present invention relates to a time division multiplex data transmission method and structure with single bus compatible to ATA bus protocol, which comprises: a primary ATA bus arbiter for combining the bus requests of hard disk controller to complete the time division multiplexing of the host side and arbitrating the usage right of ATA bus; a plurality of ATA/HD bridges for switching the time division multiplexing of the target side in response to the on-line request of the bus master to solve the possible primary bus contention caused by activating more than two hard disks in the same time; a plurality of concurrent ATA master drives for configuring the hard disk as a master driver in a bridge structure to make all of the hard disks independent for executing the commands belong to the individual and waiting for the host system requesting services. With the above-mentioned structure, the ATA/ATAPI device will not be affected by the message transmission process and the outcome under the compliant environment with the ATA bus of the ATA/ATAPI device. Thus, the time division switching for a single bus can complete the burst-type data transmission for multiple hard disks to improve the total efficiency of the bus bandwidth.
