abstract | A kind of apparatus for measuring oxygen content in molten substance comprises a compact oxygen probe unit that is soaked in molten substance and is composed of the followings: a tubular shell, which has a closed end made of solid electrolyte; a metal cylinder, which surrounds the outer periphery of the tubular shell and serves as an outer electrode; and a standard electrode, which is installed inside the tubular shell that has an inserted sheath thermocouple serving also as an inner electrode. The whole devices stated above are placed in a terminal box to form the measuring apparatus of oxygen content. The metal cylinder comprises a protecting cylinder portion that surrounds the outer periphery of the tubular shell and has an opening for exposing the front end of the tubular shell. Through the terminal box, both conducting wires of the sheath thermocouple are connected to form the major means for measuring temperature. The inner electrode, which is formed by one conducting wire of the sheath thermocouple, and the outer electrode formed by the metal cylinder are connected to the terminal box to form the major means for measuring the generated electromotive force. |
