abstract | A solventless polymerisable composition comprising (a) at least one strained cycloolefin that is liquid or is meltable without decomposition, and (b) a catalytic amount of at least one compound of formula I or Ia or a mixture of compound of formulae I and Ia, wherein Me is ruthenium or osmium; T1 and T2 are each independently of the other a tertiary phosphine or T1 and T2 together form a ditertiary diphosphine; T3 is hydrogen, C1-C12 alkyl; C3-C8 cycloalkyl; C3-C7 heterocycloalkyl having one or two hetero atoms selected from the group -O-, -S- and -N-, C6-C14 aryl, or C4-C15 heteroaryl having from one to three hetero atoms selected from the group -O-, -S- and -N-, which are unsubstituted or substituted by C1-C4 alkyl, C1-C4 haloalkyl, C1-C4 alkoxy, C6-C10 aryl, C6-C10 aryloxy, -NO2 or by halogen; T4 is C6-C16 arene or C4-C15 heteroarene each of which is unsubstituted or substituted by from one to three C1-C4 alkyl, C1-C4 haloalkyl, C1-C4 alkoxy, -OH, F, Cl or Br substituents, and X01 and X02 are each independently of the other halogen. The compositions are suitable for the production of mouldings and coatings. |
