titleOfInvention Method of manufacturing injector
abstract There is provided a method of manufacturing an injector by joining a gasket to a plunger, rather than simply holding the gasket in engagement with the plunger, the injector being shortened in overall length. The method manufactures an injector 1 having a barrel 4 for mounting an injection needle 2 thereon and a plunger 5 of thermoplastic synthetic resin with a gasket 6 joined to a tip end thereof and held in intimate sliding contact with an inner wall surface 4a of the barrel 4. Either one of the gasket 6 and the plunger 5 is set in molds 21a, 21b, and a synthetic resin that the other of the gasket and the plunger is to be made of is injected into the molds 21a, 21b. The gasket 6 is made of a thermoplastic elastomer that can thermally be fused to the plunger 5. The synthetic resin is injected at a cylinder temperature ranging from 130 to 300 DEG C under an injection pressure ranging from 250 to 1500 kg/cm<SP>2</SP>. The plunger 5 and the gasket 6 may be welded to each other by a common solvent or bonded to each other by an adhesive.
