abstract |
The present invention discloses a method and a catalyst for oxidizing hydrogen sulfide to elemental sulfur. The elemental sulfur can be effectively recovered from a gas mixture containing hydrogen sulfide utilizing a vanadium-and-tin catalyst, which has better activity and sulfur selectivity than a vanadium catalyst alone. In another embodiment, the vanadium-and-tin catalyst comprises an additional antimony-containing promoter, which can further improve the yield of elemental sulfur and can maintain 100% sulfur yield over a wide range of temperature. |
