abstract | A process for the production of rigid polyurethane foams comprising the reaction of (1) an organic polyisocyanate; (2) an isocyanate-reactive composition containing a plurality of isocyanate-reactive groups; and (3) a blowing agent consisting isopentane and n-pentane in a ratio of isopentane to n-pentane of from 99:1 to 90:10 parts by weight under foam foaming conditions, wherein said organic polyisocyanate is selected from the group consisting of 4,4'-diphenylmethane diisocyanate, 2,4'-diphenylmethane diisocyanate, polymeric diphenylmethane diisocyanate and diphenylmethane diisocyanate variants, and said isocyanate-reactive composition is selected from the group consisting of polyether polyols, polyester polyols, and mixtures thereof having average hydroxyl numbers of from 100 to 1000 KOH/g and hydroxyl functionalities of 2 to 8. |
