abstract |
This invention is related to a method to increase the depolymerization rate of polyethylene terephthalate (PET). Tin or lead containing compounds are used as catalysts to increase the rate of PET hydrolysis to form terephthalic acid and ethylene glycol. Tin containg compounds are also used to enhance the reaction rate of PET glycosis with ethylene glycol in producing short-chain PET oligomers and its monomer. |
