abstract | This invention provides a rubber-modified polystyrene resin composition exhibiting excellent falling-ball impact strength, high tensile strength, good glossiness, and retained excellent low temperature falling-ball impact strength after forming and coating. It consists of polystyrene type copolymer as the continuous phase and butadiene type rubber particles as the dispersed phase in the continuous phase, and is characterized at that the rubber particles should satisfy the following equation: dispersion parameter (D.P.)=4*(1/L)+10A+50B+50C, where D.P. is a value between 53 and 65; A is the fraction of rubber particles with particle diameter below 0.12 mu m and has a value between 0.1 and 0.85; B is the fraction of rubber particles with particle diameter between 0.12 and 0.5 mu m and has a value between 0.05 and 0.85; C is the fraction of rubber particles with particle diameter above 0.5 mu m and has a value between 0.01 and 0.2; and L is the average inter-particle distance in mu m. |
