| abstract | The present invention relates to provide safe power supply for PCMCIA PC card available in personal computer slots. Specifically, the invention is a kind of I/O device controller used by communicating data processor and I/O device that the characteristics includes: the interface used for I/O bus data exchange in said data processor; the register, used for temporarily keeping part of exchanged data; the driver, used for sending signals to said I/O device; the power management means, which can proceed connecting/separating operation for connecting I/O device and power cord according to the content written into said register; detecting means, used for detecting the over current on the said power cord; and I/O device controller that after the said register is written the detection result and the said driver can switch its output as OFF based on the detecting result. If the detecting result shows any abnormal condition of PC card's power supply, it can notify the PC about the detecting result; and, if the detecting result shows any abnormal condition of PC card's power supply, because it will stop the output of driver used for sending signals to PC card, the invention can prevent the overload latch-up causing damage to internal circuit of PC card. |
