abstract | A simple and easy process for purifying crude acetonitrile essentially comprising (1) a step of contacting crude acetonitrile with nascent oxygen and (2) a step of contacting the acetonitrile from step (1) with at least one of a solid base and an adsorbent; a process for obtaining a highly purified acetonitrile comprising subjecting the acetonitrile recovered from either step (1) or step (2) to a step of removing low-boiling compounds and high-boiling compounds contained therein; and the thus obtained highly purified acetonitrile which has an absorbance of not more than 0.05 at 200 to 400 nm and is suitable as a mobile phase solvent for HPLC are disclosed. |
