The present invention provides a nematic liquid crystal composition, and a liquid crystal element, a sensor, a liquid crystal lens, an optical communication device or an antenna using the composition, wherein the nematic liquid crystal composition is capable of responding to microwave or millimeter wave electromagnetic waves. Among the larger phase-controlled liquid crystal materials, nematic liquid crystals have a wide temperature range, are stable at room temperature, and have high refractive index anisotropy Δn.
