abstract The present disclosure reduces the error in phase difference detection of an imaging element including phase difference pixels formed by disposing a crystal-mounted lens in common for a pair of pixels.nThe imaging element of the present disclosure includes pixels, individual on-chip lenses, a plurality of phase difference pixels, common on-chip lenses, and pixel circuits. The pixel includes a photoelectric conversion part that performs photoelectric conversion in accordance with incident light and a charge transfer part that transfers charges generated by the photoelectric conversion. Individual on-chip lenses are arranged in each pixel and individually condense incident light. The phase difference pixels each have a photoelectric conversion part and a charge transfer part and are arranged adjacent to each other to detect the phase difference. The common on-chip lens is arranged in a plurality of phase difference pixels in common to collectively condense incident light. The pixel circuit is formed on the semiconductor substrate and generates an image signal based on the transferred charge. The charge transfer parts of the plurality of phase difference pixels are arranged in the area between the common on-chip lens and the individual on-chip lenses.
