Soft contact lens and method for producing the same |
abstract |
The present invention relates generally to soft contact lenses that include a non-silicone hydrogel lens body and a hydrogel coating thereon. The non-silicone hydrogel lens body is composed of a hydrogel material that is silicone-free and contains at least 50% repeating units of at least one hydroxyl-containing vinyl monomer in moles. The hydrogel coating includes a first polymer material having a first reactive functional group and a hydrogel layer derived from a second polymer material having a second reactive functional group, and the hydrogel layer is A bond formed between a first reactive functional group and a second reactive functional group is covalently attached to the anchor layer. The soft contact lens has better surface lubricity than the lubricity of the non-silicone hydrogel lens body and has a friction level of about 2 or less after 7 cycles of manual friction when fully hydrated at room temperature Water content from about 10% to about 85% by weight and elastic modulus from about 0.2 MPa to about 1.5 MPa. |
