abstract |
The present invention relates generally to a method for measuring benzimidazole-based corrosion inhibitors in cooling water. The method may include taking a water sample containing a benzimidazole-based compound from an aqueous system, adding an acid to the water sample, and / or diluting with water. The method may further include exposing the water sample to the light energy of the selected excitation wavelength and measuring the intensity of the emitted light near the selected fluorescence emission wavelength. The intensity of the emitted light may be compared with a standard curve, which may be a graph of the fluorescence emission intensity of the benzimidazole-based compound versus the concentration of the benzimidazole-based compound. The concentration of the benzimidazole-based compound in the water sample can be determined from the standard curve. |
